There was a line this weekend at the SPRL Showroom. An actual line, for vintage clothes. Once inside, I watched everyone work through the racks, and each person pulled something completely different that spoke to them in some way. It is so fun to 1) watch others succeed (cc: Alice Watts), and 2) see so many people wanting to shop vintage.

It reminded me why I started this page. I believe every woman wants to be just a touch cooler, wear more vintage, be more sustainable, and buy things that will be in her closet for more than a season or two. She just may not know where to start, may feel too overwhelmed, or may not know how to work it into her style in a way that still feels like her. I want vintage to feel approachable and wearable (less museum piece, more the thing you actually put on for dinner). Unofficially, it’s also because I need somewhere to put all the good vintage I find that isn’t my own closet, hence this series.

I am certainly feeling fall: lots of coats, ostrich, and autumn tones, with a few goodies sprinkled in for those of you still in waiting for cooler temps. I had fun with this one and couldn’t stop adding.

1960s British Couture dress (6; $1000)

I posted this incredible vintage dress a few days ago, and I am still in love with her. She’s something you could wear to events for the next 20 years (someone could even send this to their mom). I want her styled with opera gloves and a lariat worn backwards.

Handmade bag ($28)

A great price point for some easy texture. It feels Dries-adjacent, which makes sense, as it’s handmade in India. You could wear it with mostly black for a pop of color and texture, or in the summer with a white sundress. (Speaking of embellished purses, I’ve had this vintage one hearted on TRR and have been waiting for it to be discounted. Smaller embellished bags are plentiful, but shoulder bags are more unusual to see.)

New here? Hi! Four months ago I started PMLF as a running record of what I’m hunting for, how I plan on styling it, and a few other creative pursuits sprinkled in. Between weekly(ish) newsletters, find me on Instagram sharing vintage and the aforementioned hodgepodge.

Rosie Assoulin jacket ($1077)

While not vintage, I couldn’t help but sharing. This Rosie Assoulin jacket is incredible. I prefer vintage almost always, but I love Rosie, it’s on sale, it’s timeless, and it’s incredibly chic. Help me! I'm imagining all the different ways I could style her. (I would also almost certainly need the sleeves hemmed as they are long even on the model, but what else is new.) There’s also two sizes left of the floral print version, which is gives vintage RL vibes.

Toddler bubble pants ($30)

I use the same general equation to dress my son: a bubble pant, usually with a fun vintage sweater. It makes mornings easy, and the pattern mixing gives me the same excitement I imagine dressing a little girl might, while still suiting a little boy who is currently yeeting himself face-first off couches. We live and breathe by the bubble pant. I’ve ordered multiple gingham pairs from this Etsy shop, and I have these tartan ones (and corduroy) in my cart for the holidays.

1980s sunburst earrings ($55)

I love an 80s earring for a statement earring (I picked up a few in London—you must visit The Hirst Collection if you go). Shopping for earrings online is hard because the scale is always smaller than you want. These, however, look MASSIVE and very promising. They are dying to be worn with a velvet jacket to a holiday party.

Vintage ostrich collarless jacket (6; $595)

I am on an ostrich kick. We are in those ideal few weeks weather wise when I can wear one of my all-time favorite vintage pieces, a Givenchy Haute Couture ostrich coat. Now I am very, very tempted by this collarless jacket. It is so perfect, and not a bad price point for ostrich (and one for $100, but I miss the pockets and buttons).

A quick note: since I’ve turned on paid subscriptions, the full list in this series is for paid subscribers, with a few finds up top for everyone. Almost everything I share here is one of a kind, so a smaller group means less competition. Thank you for being here, free or paid! All of my deep dives are still free, and you can find them here.

Below are 13+ more vintage things that I am dangerously close to buying.
